Clearwater, FL – September 14, 2025 – The St. Petersburg College (SPC) Baseball program welcomed Countryside Little League to Jack Russell Stadium on Saturday, September 13, for a fun and educational baseball clinic focused on building fundamental skills and inspiring the next generation of ballplayers.
Over 25 young athletes, ages 10 to 14, participated in the clinic, which was led by SPC’s baseball players and coaching staff. Throughout the morning, the young players rotated through stations focusing on the core fundamentals of the game – including throwing mechanics, fielding drills, and hitting techniques.
The SPC players not only demonstrated proper techniques but also worked hands-on with the kids, giving them one-on-one feedback and encouragement. The goal of the event was to provide instruction while building confidence, teamwork, and a love for the game.
SPC Baseball Head Coach Oscar Espada emphasized the importance of community engagement:
“It’s really special to see our guys give back to the game and serve as role models for these young players. Baseball has given them so many opportunities, and this clinic is a way to share that passion and knowledge with the next generation,” said Coach Espada.
For the Countryside Little League players, the opportunity to learn on the field at the historic Jack Russell Stadium – a venue with deep baseball roots in Clearwater – made the experience even more memorable.
The event highlighted SPC Baseball’s ongoing commitment to community involvement and player development, both on and off the field. Beyond the skills learned, the clinic provided a chance for the college players to demonstrate leadership and mentorship, fostering a strong connection between the program and the local youth baseball community.
